How do I clean a THIBAULT VAN RENNE carpet?
We make a distinction between maintenance and annual cleaning.

You can take care of the annual cleaning yourself. We recommend that you first vacuum the carpet thoroughly. Meanwhile, dilute white vinegar in lukewarm water (ratio 1 to 6). Moisten a piece of cloth or rag with this mixture and smoothly rub it over the carpet in a back and forth motion. You will notice that your rag / cloth has absorbed all the dirt and dust and that your carpet has regained its lustre and cleanness. The dullness due to collected impurities will have disappeared.
- However, if you want a thorough maintenance deep down into the fibre, then we recommend a traditional wash for your carpet. To do so, the carpet must be washed with soap and water deep down into the fibre so that all impurities and bacteria are removed. We do this in the same manner as in step 6 of the production process, but here in Europe. Contact us for the collection of your carpet for thorough maintenance / wash.
What about stains?
First aid in case of accident: dampen a sponge with a drop of detergent (no bleach) or neutral soap and rub the stain locally. After this, remove soap residue with a damp cloth without soap, and then leave the carpet to dry. This will remove 90% of all stains from the carpet. For resistant stains, please contact us for further advice or a thorough maintenance / wash of your carpet.
Does a THIBAULT VAN RENNE carpet shed?
Our carpets don’t shed; they merely lose a bit of fluff for a short period of time. It means that the top layer of the carpet has to wear off a little. Some wool fluffs can be visible on the surface of the carpet. You can simply vacuum them. After a short period of wearing off, this process stops. This phenomenon is more prevalent in Nepalese woollen carpets than with Indian ones. In our Indian top collections, wool and silk are spun by hand, and the wool is even hand-carded. These processes provide a purification of the materials so that inferior fibres are separated and only top fibres are used to manufacture the carpets. As a result, no wool comes off.
